ACTi TCM-5312 Now Available

January 7th, 2010 admin Comments off

ACTi Corp. has recently released the TCM-5312 IP camera, an extension of the TCM-5311 IP camera that has already been available for some time. Both the TCM-5311 and TCM-5312 are 1.25 megapixel IP camera devices with support for MPEG4, MJPEG and H.264 video compression formats. However, the TCM-5312 differs from the TCM-5311 by requiring 24V AC for power while the TCM-5311 features support for 12V DC power or Power over Ethernet. By introducing the TCM-5312, ACTi can now provide high performance megapixel IP camera devices that can cater to various power requirements that may exist. If low voltage cabling is required or if cable costs need to be reduced then the TCM-5311 with support for 12V DC and PoE is the right camera for the application. If the power requirement for the application is 24V AC, which is common for most traditional security applications, then the TCM-5312 is the right choice. Be sure to check out more details on the ACTi TCM-5312.

Denver’s Park Central Using Hybrid Surveillance Solution

December 2nd, 2009 admin Comments off
ACTi NUUO vForge

Park Central, a 550,440 square-foot office building located in the heart of Denver’s business district and owned by Means-Knaus real estate investment firm, has chosen an analog-IP hybrid video surveillance system for providing protection for the bank, ATMs, restaurants and all other occupants of the building. Through a cooperative partnership between ACTi, NUUO and vForge, a hybrid video surveillance system has been created. The application features a combination of analog cameras, ACTi megapixel IP cameras, and includes vForge’s implementation of the NUUO Hybrid NDVR server. The entire surveillance system is being managed by Universal Protection Services (UPS), listed as one of the top ten security companies in the United States. UPS security guard staff have expressed their support of this new system stating the that the system is easy to use and allows for advanced control of the surveillance system without having to leave the monitoring station.

NUUO Press Release Excerpt:

ACTi calculates, a 3 Megapixel camera can view 3.5 times more of an area than a standard analog camera (640×480). Megapixel cameras have become the future trend in surveillance, and NUUO/vForge fulfills the need to expand the system from analog to megapixel IP cameras and to use resources more efficiently

UPS uses smart detection to more effectively manage the system. Record settings are based on the sensitivity of each camera; set to continuous, motion based, and event based, each camera are chosen to maximize efficiency and guard responsiveness. vForge servers fully implement NUUO smart detection tools; by NUUO 6 events detections with 10+ instant alarms, managers can not only save bandwidth and storage costs by reducing unnecessary recording but also make surveillance more precise. A UPS security guard said–”NUUO gives me control without leaving”.

Arecont Vision Announces MegaFlash Compact IP Cameras

November 13th, 2009 admin Comments off

Arecont Vision has recently announced a new line of compact megapixel IP cameras that will feature MegaFlash technology. The announcement of the MegaFlash camera series was made at the 12th Annual China Public Security Expo Show (CPSE) in that was recently held in Shenzhen, China. The CPSE event is the world’s largest public security expo in the world averaging 1,000 exhibitors and over 55,000 visitors.

With the inclusion of the MegaFlash technology Arecont Vision will provide IP cameras capable of capturing megapixel quality snapshots using a high speed shutter that is synchronized with an external strobe light for license plate recognition or intelligent transportation systems applications. The MegaFlash technology will be included in 1.3, 2, 3 or 5 megapixel formats and is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2010. Be sure to check out the full press release on the Arecont Vision website by following the link included below.

Arecont Vision Press Release Excerpt:

“Megapixel CMOS cameras provide exceptional frame-rate and image clarity benefits for license plate recognition. However, the use of CMOS megapixel camera technology in LPR and ITS applications has been impeded by its inability to synchronize with a flash strobe, due to the lack of global shutter in conventional CMOS sensors. Introduction of sophisticated high-speed shutter in the camera effectively addresses this problem, opening exciting possibilities with new applications in the transportation vertical with LPR and ITS requirements. The new compact MegaFlash™ cameras further expand what is already the broadest megapixel product line in the industry,” said Dr. Michael Kaplinsky, CEO, Arecont Vision.
